Bespoke, trauma-informed life coaching for at-risk, justice involved mothers, giving them the space to BREATHE

A report in 2023 by the Universities of Sheffield and Salford found that there is a lack of evidence to show that the needs of mothers are being met through targeted intervention either in prison, or upon release.

Considering this, and the fact that most busy, often overwhelmed mothers long for the space and time to “just breathe”, emphasised the even greater need women living chaotic and stressful lives and carrying trauma, grief and shame have for safe, compassionate, non-judgemental spaces where they are able to pause and reflect on their maternal identity, needs and emotions, being seen and heard as mothers, no matter their current parental status.

BREATHE was subsequently created by Alabaster Coaching to offer at-risk and justice involved mothers something unique in a bespoke, trauma-informed, forward looking life coaching model. Its seven-step process is underpinned by research and the core supporting structures of person-centred coaching, a knowledge of the lived experience and complex challenges and emotions justice involved mothers face and an understanding of Matricentric Feminism*. Our aim is to support women in their journey toward a more empowered, hopeful, compassionate and authentic maternal identity.

BREATHE offers mothers the vital time and space to go on a journey of self exploration to consider who they are, who and what they are connected to and what and where they want to be - offering hope and healing for the future.
